The Sizing Framework
The Focal Fireplace
Best for 200–400 sq ft patios with one seating group. Secondary focal wall in a larger build.
You have a covered lanai or pergola-covered patio between 200 and 400 square feet, a single sectional or a four-chair conversation grouping, and a wall between 6 and 8 feet wide dedicated to the fireplace. Viewing distance is typically 6 to 10 feet from the fire.
You are building a resort-scale build with dining zones and lounging zones both in the fireplace's field of view. At 50 inches the fire will look proportionally small from 15+ feet back.
The Outdoor Living Room Anchor
Best for 400–600 sq ft patios. The primary focal wall for a mid-size outdoor living room.
You have a 400–600 square foot patio, a full L-shape sectional plus two accent chairs, and a wall between 8 and 12 feet wide dedicated to the fireplace. Viewing distance is 10 to 15 feet. Ceiling clearance under a covered structure allows the 20-inch viewing height to read as substantial rather than small.
You have a small compact patio under 250 square feet — the 62 will read as overscaled and consume the entire wall. Step down to the Galaxy 50.
The Resort-Scale Architectural Focal Point
Best for 600+ sq ft patios. The largest Galaxy — architectural focal point for the largest builds.
You have a 600+ square foot resort-scale patio, multiple activity zones (lounging + dining + bar) all with the fireplace in view, a wall 12+ feet wide dedicated to the fireplace, and viewing distances that stretch to 20+ feet from the far seating group. The 74 is engineered to hold that sight line.
Your patio is under 500 square feet or your dedicated fireplace wall is under 10 feet wide. Step down to the 62.
Common Features Across All Three Sizes
The Galaxy line uses a 304 stainless firebox across all three sizes — the same corrosion-resistant grade Napoleon uses on their premium grill lines. Coastal builds and freeze-thaw climates both.
Integrated LED lighting with custom color modes lets the fireplace read differently for dinner service versus late-night lounging. Runs off the same gas connection — no separate low-voltage lighting circuit required.
A consistent 20-inch viewing height across the entire Galaxy line. That gives you consistent flame visibility regardless of which width you pick — the fire itself reads at the same vertical scale, only the horizontal footprint changes.
Napoleon offers optional heat and exhaust management kits for the Galaxy line — useful under enclosed lanais, wood ceilings, or in tight overhead-clearance situations. Ask us for the current option list at time of quote.
