Cal Flame BBQ Islands Compared: All 14 Models by Size, Price & What's Included (2026)
Authorized Cal Flame Dealer · Built In Pomona, CA · MAP-Compliant Pricing
There are fourteen Cal Flame BBQ islands live on our site right now. They run from $3,810 to $10,582. And almost every buyer who calls me has narrowed it down the wrong way — by price, then by picture.
Here's the problem with that. Two islands forty dollars apart can be completely different purchases. The Baja Q and the Bel Air Q are both $5,373. One is a compact 4-burner with an access door. The other is a 95-inch island with a P4 rotisserie grill and a bar. Same money, different decade of backyard.
So this is the whole lineup, sorted the way I actually sort it on the phone: by footprint, by what's genuinely included, and by how long it takes to show up. Every number below came off our live catalog today.
The Short Version
Measure the patio. Then read the equipment list. Price comes third.
| Under 80 inches | Kona Q, Maui Q, Kauai Q, Tropical Q. Three-burner territory mostly. Real outdoor kitchen, honest footprint. |
| 83–95 inches | Pacifica Q, Atlantic Q, Bel Air Q, Avalon Q. The volume zone. This is where most people should land. |
| You want a bar | Malibu Q, Avalon Q, Bel Air Q, Maui Q. Guests sit while you cook instead of standing in the smoke. |
| Shaped builds | Carmel Q (L), La Jolla Q (U), Laguna Q (3-piece, 190"). These are backyard-defining, not patio-filling. |

The refrigerator trap — read this before you compare two prices
This is the single most expensive misunderstanding in the Cal Flame lineup, and it is hiding in one word.
Some of these islands come with a refrigerator slot. Some come with a stainless refrigerator. Those are not the same thing, and the spec sheets put them one line apart.
|
Slot only (empty cavity) |
Kona Q · Pacifica Q · Costa Q · Tropical Q |
|
Refrigerator included (appliance in the price) |
Malibu Q · Avalon Q · Carmel Q |
So when someone tells me the Tropical Q at $5,673 looks like better value than the Avalon Q at $5,982, my first question is whether they're planning to put a fridge in it. Because if they are, the Tropical Q isn't $5,673 — it's $5,673 plus an appliance, plus the trim, plus getting it right the first time. The Avalon Q already has one in the build, along with a side burner and an outdoor outlet.
Three hundred dollars apart on the page. Not three hundred dollars apart in reality. If you're shopping the slot models, price the refrigeration before you compare anything.
G3, G4, P4 — what the grill letter actually buys you
Every island in the lineup ships with a grill already in it, and the grill is the part you'll touch every single time you use the thing. Three tiers appear as standard equipment across the fourteen:
| G3 | 3 burners. Standard on Kona Q, Maui Q, Kauai Q. Enough grill for a family and the occasional crowd. |
| G4 | 4 burners. The workhorse — standard on most of the middle of the range. P4 upgrade offered on these. |
| P4 Premium | 4 burners with rotisserie and back burner. Standard on Bel Air Q, La Jolla Q, Carmel Q, Laguna Q. |
Which brings us back to that $5,373 coincidence. The Baja Q and the Bel Air Q cost exactly the same. The Baja Q is a compact island with a G4. The Bel Air Q is 95 inches with a P4, a rotisserie, a bar countertop you can put on the right or the left, and a 30-inch double access door instead of a 27-inch single.
If you have the space, that is not a close call. If you don't have the space, the Bel Air Q is 95 inches of island you can't fit, and the Baja Q is the right answer. Which is exactly why footprint comes before price.
The lead-time math nobody does until it's too late
Every one of these is built to order in Pomona. Nothing sits in a warehouse waiting for you. That means the calendar is part of the spec, and it stretches as you go up the range:
· Patio Series compacts — 6–8 weeks door-to-door
· Most Escape Series and bar islands — 6–10 weeks
· La Jolla Q and Carmel Q — 8–12 weeks
· Laguna Q flagship — 10–14 weeks
Order a Carmel Q the week this posts and you're looking at delivery somewhere in the back half of November into December. Order the same island in April because you want it for Memorial Day, and you are in the spring queue with everyone else who had the same idea, on an eight-to-twelve week clock that starts after you order.
Late September is the quiet part of the year to buy a built-to-order island. That's not a sales line — it's just how a factory backlog works. If a spring deadline matters to you, the move is to lock the build now and let it arrive in the off-season. Here's how ordering actually works on a built-to-order island, start to finish.
What I'd actually tell you to buy
| Small patio, first island | Kona Q — $3,810. 70 inches, 3-burner G3, refrigerator slot if you want to add one later. Cheapest real Cal Flame island, not a compromise. |
| You entertain, space is fine | Bel Air Q — $5,373. The best value in the lineup by a distance. P4 rotisserie grill and a bar at the same price as a compact G4 island. |
| You want it done once | Avalon Q — $5,982. Fridge, side burner, outdoor outlet and bar all in the build. Fewest follow-up purchases of anything in the range. |
| Backyard is the project | Carmel Q — $9,364. L-shape, P4, refrigerator, side burner, sink with faucet, outdoor electrical. Specify bar right or left at order time. |
One honest note on warranty. Cal Flame's coverage language is not stated identically across every island page in our catalog — some list a term-by-component breakdown, others summarize it differently. Rather than publish a number here that might not match the model you actually buy, we'll pull the current factory warranty document for the specific island you're considering and send it to you in writing. We'd rather be slow and correct than fast and wrong on a $9,000 purchase.
Same goes for any dimension not listed above — if it isn't in our catalog, we don't guess at it, we get it from Cal Flame.
