Delivery Day โ€” What to Expect

SMALL ITEMS

Standard Ground (FedEx / UPS)

Anything under ~150 lbs ships standard ground. Driver leaves at door, no signature required unless specified.

What ships this way:

Cocktail Center, Hibachi grill, Beer Tap, accessories, smaller fire pits, refrigerators under 150 lbs.

FREIGHT ITEMS ยท MOST COMMON

Curbside Freight (LTL)

For BBQ islands, large grills, fire pit tables, fireplaces, large furniture sets. Carrier calls you 24โ€“48 hrs before to schedule a 4-hour delivery window.

โš ๏ธ IMPORTANT โ€” Inspect before signing:

Photograph ALL sides of the crate before opening. Note any damage on the BOL (bill of lading) BEFORE the driver leaves. Once you sign "clean," freight claims are nearly impossible.

๐Ÿ“ธ The Damage-Inspection Checklist (Read Before Signing)

Most freight damage is hidden. Most customers sign "clean" without looking, then can't claim later. This 60-second checklist saves hundreds in disputes:

  1. Take photos of every side of the crate / pallet before the driver opens or leaves.
  2. Open one corner if possible. Look for crushed boxes inside the crate.
  3. Note any damage on the BOL with the words: "Crate damaged โ€” inspecting contents."
  4. If damage is visible: refuse the shipment OR sign "DAMAGED โ€” will inspect." Both protect you.
  5. Email us within 24 hours with photos. We'll file the freight claim and re-ship the damaged item.

Signing "clean" then finding damage = no claim. Don't do this.

Common Tracking Issues

Tracking shows "Label Created" but no movement?

Carrier hasn't picked it up yet. Normal for 1โ€“2 business days. If it's been 4+ days, email us โ€” we'll chase the warehouse.

No tracking email after 5 days?

Check spam folder, then check the lead time table above โ€” some Cal Flame items genuinely take 4โ€“6 weeks. If your item should've shipped, email us.

Carrier hasn't called to schedule freight delivery?

They typically call once the truck is at the local terminal โ€” usually 1โ€“2 days before delivery. If it's been 3+ days since "out for delivery" without contact, call us with your tracking number.

Need to change your delivery address?

Email us ASAP โ€” we can usually change it BEFORE shipment leaves the warehouse. Once it's in transit, address changes incur fees from the carrier.

Need to delay your delivery?

Once the carrier calls to schedule, you can ask for a later date. Most carriers hold for 5โ€“10 days free; longer holds may have a storage fee. Email us if you need help coordinating.
